Call for Ugly Dogs: 25th Anniversary of the World’s Ugliest Dog ® Contest Means a Bigger Event, and More Dogs Than Ever at This Year’s Sonoma-Marin Fair June 2013

Petaluma, California (PRWEB) April 11, 2013

Who knew that when the World’s Ugliest Dog ® Contest began that it would become an international phenomenon? Now in its 25th anniversary year at the Sonoma-Marin Fair, the contest draws beauty-challenged dogs from across the country and even around the world each June to make their play for the coveted title. The 2013 contest entries are now open with registration forms available for contestant download online at http://www.sonoma-marinfair.org. Forms also are available by calling 707-283-3247 (FAIR).

The Sonoma-Marin Fair is producing the 25th annual World’s Ugliest Dog ® Contest on Friday, June 21, 2013 with full fanfare. The fair theme is Dog Days of Summer and a retrospective exhibit featuring the last 25 years of the contest will be on display. Contracted to host are nationally syndicated radio personalities Bob & Sheri. The show is preceded by a Dog Lover’s Festival celebrating all things dog and includes the Sonoma Humane Society’s Pet Waggin’ with adoptable dogs. The Fair will reprise the popular Beauty & the Beast Rescue Walk during the contest in which local beauty queens walk adoptable dogs through the audience during judging intervals.

This year marks an increase from $ 1,000 to $ 1,500 in the cash prize for winning the title of World’s Ugliest Dog ®. The title also comes with an enormous trophy and an instant launch into worldwide acclaim. Organizers have also simplified the final round of the contest. The winner of this year’s contest will be declared following a runoff between the winner of the pedigree class and the mutt class. In past years, that winner had to also go up against past years’ winners in a Ring of Champions round before claiming the title.

All dogs must enter a prequalifying round to ensure they are truly ugly before they take the stage. Owners must provide vet documentation that their dogs are healthy when registering. The fair also conducts on-site vet checks on the day of the contest.

Contest lovers can cast their vote at the hugely popular World’s Ugliest Dog ® Voting Gallery (http://www.sonoma-marinfair.org) where contestant photos and descriptions will be posted starting in April 15.

Attending the World’s Ugliest Dog ® Contest is included in the price of admission to the fair as are the carnival, concerts, and other entertainment. The Sonoma-Marin Fair runs June 19 through 23 and offers $ 15 admission for adults, $ 10 for 4 to 12 year olds and 3 and under are admitted free. Look for fair and contest updates online at http://www.sonoma-marinfair.org or call 707-283-3247 (FAIR).

Quietside Muffin Company Celebrates One Year Anniversary

Quietside Muffin Company Celebrates One Year Anniversary

Southwest Harbor, ME (PRWEB) June 14, 2006

It all started with a cooler and a dream. One day while baking in my kitchen in Maine that the idea came to me. I saw people all over with roadside tables offering homemade goods with payment on the honor system. Why couldn’t I do it too? Thus, the Quietside Muffin Company was born on July 2, 2005, as a sole proprietorship and is licensed with the State of Maine as a Home Food Processor.

I decided I would make blueberry muffins and sell them out of a cooler at the end of my driveway. On the first day I sold 30 Muffins. On day two, I sold another 30 Muffins. I knew I was on to something, because on day three, I could not keep the cooler full and sold 90 muffins. People were coming up to the door asking me when the muffins would be ready. On one of my busiest days last year I sold 100 muffins!

Since then, the Quietside Muffin Company has expanded our offerings to home made Texas size muffins, dog treats, cookies, pies, cakes and chocolate candy. Muffins come in Blueberry, Strawberry, and Raspberry and we have a seasonal special muffin. Quiet Side Puppy Muffins (dog treats) come in assorted sizes to compliment any size dog. Gift baskets for all our products are available upon request.

What makes our QS muffins special is that they are hot, fresh out of the oven treats. They do not contain any preservatives and are only made with the best ingredients and lots of love. Our products provide great home made comfort food, just like Grandma used to make, for the whole family at a reasonable price. All it takes is one bite of a Quietside Muffin and the other products sell themselves!

QuietsidePuppy Muffins have become a staple in many homes on Mount Desert Island because everyone wants only the best for their best friend.

As my daughter Theresa knows, you can’t take your K9 pal out to buy goodies without them feeling slighted. Our dalmatian Sparky is Queen of the Drive-Up. This gave me the idea to make Quietside Puppy muffins. The idea took off and we now sell and ship Quietside Puppy Muffins across the country.

We offer free delivery in Southwest Harbor, Maine and anywhere on the island with a minimum order of $ 12.00.

After a successful winter, the Quietside Muffin Company is now selling some of its products in local stores on the island at our loyal customers’ requests.

You can buy our products at Carroll Drug, Cozy Cat Farms Gifts and starting in July at Flying Artisans.

You can still purchase muffins at the old faithful cooler at the end of the driveway for those customers who just want a hot fresh baked muffin.

Please listen for our radio advertisements on WDEA in Ellsworth. We also advertise our specials in the Mount Desert Islander newspaper and the Ellsworth American.

Our hours of operation are 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM, seven days a week May through October. During the winter we take orders over the telephone for pick up or delivery.

The purpose of the Quietside Muffin Company is to serve the Mount Desert Island area of Maine with quality products at a reasonable price. Should a customer call with a special order, we will do whatever it takes to meet that need with the best tasting baked goods that they have ever had!

“We believe in taking care of our own.”

We purchase as many of our needs from local businesses as possible.

Having dealt with the public during my previous career and growing up in a family of great cooks, I feel that every product that comes from the kitchen of the Quietside Muffin Company is made with care and love.

We have many steady local customers who know that at Quietside Muffin Company you are more than a customer you are a welcome friend.

Online Retailer PupLife.com Celebrates 5th Year Anniversary

Fennville, MI (PRWEB) August 24, 2008

Healthy dog supplies retailer PupLife.com celebrates its fifth anniversary online this September. The store has grown tremendously over the years, rapidly expanding from its core of healthy dog products, to include positive dog training supplies, designer dog beds and more. To celebrate its fifth anniversary, PupLife.com will be offering 5% off all orders placed on the PupLife.com web site during the month of September.

PupLife.com President Eric Houtkooper remarked, “We are proud of the site’s continued growth through turbulent market conditions. Healthy, safe and unique products, coupled with great customer service, has proven to be a winning formula for us from day one. However, the greatest reward for us has been the friendships we have made with so many people, both two and four legged.” PupLife.com CEO Leslie Hayes-Houtkooper added, “We want to give a little back to all of our loyal customers so we’ll be running specials all month long on healthy dog supplies, as well as offering lots of great training and health care tips.”

Additionally, PupLife.com donates regularly to dog charities, rescue groups and shelters. “We donate ten percent of our yearly profits in cash and product,” said Eric Houtkooper. “We were inspired to start PupLife.com after rescuing a little black lab named, Daisy, and nursing her back to health. She passed away earlier this year, but she continues to be the heart and soul of this company. Its in our DNA to constantly give back to these wonderful groups.” Mr and Mrs. Houtkooper recently rescued a new addition to the PupLife.com team, Rita, a 5 year old Curly Coat Retriever. “She’s our new chief product tester,” joked Leslie Hayes-Houtkooper. “She is a big foodie. We like to say that she really has a nose for great products!”

As PupLife.com celebrates its fifth year, the owners of the healthy dog supplies company are already looking to the future. “We have some great new features planned for the site. We are dedicated to making each and every customer experience the best it can be,” said Leslie Hayes-Houtkooper.
